City Council appoints new city manager, EDC members

In a unanimous vote Monday night, Lampasas City Council appointed a new city manager.After a brief executive session, Erin Corbell was selected to replace outgoing City Manager Finley deGraffenried, who announced his resignation in late July.

Two arrested last week after foot pursuit

A routine traffic stop became a vehicle pursuit and then a foot chase when a Waco man allegedly fled from officers.Lampasas County sheriff’s deputies arrested John Nathan McLaughlin, 44, Oct. 7 after authorities said he evaded police by vehicle and then on foot.

Lampasas County grand jury convened last week to continue the July term.Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department brought information that resulted in indictments against: Joseph Louis Veierstahler on a charge of fraudulent use/possession of identifying information on Sept. 29, 2022.

Boots & Blazers Ball celebrates the world of art

Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden at Campbell Park hosted the 2024 Boots & Blazers Ball under the stars Saturday evening. Numerous art pieces were on display and available for bidding. The annual LAFTA fundraiser offered a catered dinner, live and silent auctions, followed by entertainment and dancing.

First Texas Bank marks 140th anniversary

First Texas Bank has been an economic anchor of downtown Lampasas since the early days of the community’s founding. This month will mark the 140th anniversary of the bank’s presence in Lampasas County.
