Star shines over county courthouse

Last weekend’s Carol of Lights festivities included the official lighting ceremony in downtown Lampasas. The Christmas star heralds the season and serves as a reminder of the light that led the magi from the east to seek the Christ Child in Bethlehem.

City Council selects new solid waste provider

The Lampasas City Council met for about 45 minutes on Monday night and quickly approved a few items of business, including a new solid waste disposal contract.The council unanimously OK’d the new contract with Frontier Texas Ventures for trash pick-up services beginning May 1, 2025.

Commissioners Court near deal for land swap

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court is closing on a 0.095-acre land swap with Ajinomoto Foods for the future site of a county storage/archive building.During Monday’s regular meeting, commissioners gave the OK for County Judge Randy Hoyer to execute the land sale and exchange.

Winter a dangerous time for home fires

With temperatures set to reach near freezing this week, Lampasas County residents will be looking for ways to stay warm. However, it is important to stay safe in the process.Each year half of all home heating fires occur in the months of December, January and February.

Lampasas gas prices below state, national averages

As the holiday season continues and travel increases, gasoline prices in Lampasas County rest significantly below the state average.The statewide average in Texas is $2.63 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

Santa makes his grand entrance

Santa Claus made his appearance in the Holidazzle Christmas Parade, riding in style in the Lampasas Fire Department’s newest fire truck. All was merry and bright at the Saturday evening festivities to close out a full day of Carol of Lights.
