Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Miguel Angel Ayala of Lampasas entered a plea of guilty to a charge of assault on a family/ household member with a previous conviction, and he was found guilty.

Utility rates rise

Lampasas City Council unanimously approved an increase in water, electric and solid waste services in a Monday meeting. The council voted to increase water rates by adding $2.25 to the monthly base rate and an additional $0.10 per 1,000 gallons used.

Students selected for summer Boys State, Girls State sessions

The Lampasas American Legion Auxiliary Unit 277 has named the students who will represent Lampasas at the 2023 Bluebonnet Girls State Session. These Lampasas High School juniors were nominated by their teachers and administrators: Jamie Ball and Jenna Ball, daughters of Kristi Ball and Sid Ball; Isabella Lindsay, daughter of Shannon Lindsey and Robert Lindsey; Morgan Bobo, daughter of Leanne and Jason Bobo; Neely Miller, daughter of Sarah and RJ Miller; and Aspen Wheeler, daughter of Haley Wheeler and Shawn Wheeler.

The Lampasas Multi-Service Center at 901 S. Live Oak is seeking volunteers to assist with its Meals on Wheels program. One fulltime driver is needed once a week, and substitute drivers also are needed. Those interested may stop by the center and speak with the director, Julie Windham.
