CEMETERY ASSOCIATIONS

SMITH CEMETERY AT SCHOOL CREEKSmith Cemetery at School Creek Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting April 25 at the School Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 11228 County Road 3420.The meeting begins at 11 a.m. It will be followed by a potluck lunch.

Community-wide observance planned for National Day of Prayer

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the National Day of Prayer in the United States.To recognize the event, Lampasas County Ministerial Alliance will host a prayer breakfast at First Baptist Church on May 7 at 7 a.m. so residents can gather together in prayer.

Garden tours offered

The Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association’s Green Thumb Program invites the public to its “Bounty Beyond the Gates” tour of two local food pantry gardens.Attendees can discover expert gardening tips and meet the Master Gardener growers behind these abundant local resources.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge Debbie Garrett presiding over the day’s hearings.Defendant Nathan Samule Diederich of Lampasas entered a plea and was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

One-vehicle crash takes out Storm’s Drive-In marquee

A 62-year-old Kempnerarea resident sustained what authorities said were serious injuries in a onevehicle crash along the 200 block of North Key Avenue in the early-morning hours on Monday.According to Lampasas Police Department Patrol Lt. Chuck Montgomery, the incident occurred at 5:07 a.m.

High school graduation three weeks away

Commencement exercises for the Lampasas High School Class of 2026 will be held May 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Badger Stadium. Gates will open at 6 p.m. There is no reserved seating offered.In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the high school gym at 2716 South U.S. Highway 281.
