The Lometa City Council met last week to discuss the adoption of an ordinance to establish rules for the recreational-vehicle area in Lometa Regional Park.

The council chose to postpone the item until after a park workshop that is planned for Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.

The council took no action on approving the Resnexus Park Management and Reservations Software for the park.

In other business, the council discussed an administrative agreement with TML Health Benefits Pool. The council also discussed continuing the COBRA Continuation of Coverage health insurance. Council members voted to accept that agreement.

UPCOMING LOMETA EVENTS

Lometa will hold its citywide fall clean-up Friday and Saturday. Residents will be able to bring their unwanted trash, junk and debris to the city yard, located at 411 E. San Saba St., for free disposal.

Drop-off will be available Friday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., as well as 1:30-5 p.m.

On Saturday, the hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Proof of residency is required.

Disposal is available only for household items. The following items won’t be accepted: tires, used oil, petroleum products, paints, pesticides and/or herbicides, antifreeze, other chemicals, batteries and electronics.

Those who are elderly or have a disability can receive help from volunteers who will transport approved items to the city yard for no charge. Those who would like such assistance are asked to go to City Hall with their identification and proof of residency to pick up a flier. Items must be set by the curb, with the flier, for pick-up.

Lometans can have abandoned vehicles towed for free, courtesy of K&S Towing. A signed invoice from the property owner or lessee is required. Anyone interested should contact Steve Wilkerson in advance at 512-563-6455.

The Lometa Volunteer Fire Department will host a drivethrough barbecue fundraiser on Sunday from 11 a.m. until the meals are sold out. The event will be carry-out only, and residents can contact the fire department ahead of time to place an order.

The next City Council meeting will be Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. It also will be live-streamed via Facebook.
