Voters in several jurisdictions across Lampasas County will have an opportunity Saturday to participate in municipal and school district elections.

Those registered to vote in the city of Lampasas may select from two candidates running for mayor. Council members Herb Pearce and Cathy Haby Kuehne are on the ballot for the mayoral position.

Candidates Eric Hernandez and Bob Goodart are vying for the Place Two seat on the Lampasas City Council.

Councilman Zachary “Zac” Morris is unopposed in his bid for re-election, and candidate Charlie Pratus is the lone name on the ballot for Place Six.

Registered voters in the city of Kempner do not have any council candidates on the May 6 ballot, but they will have a special sales tax proposal on which to cast a vote.

Proposition One is for “the adoption of a local sales and use tax in Kempner at the rate of ½% to provide revenue for the maintenance and repair of municipal streets.” The ballot allows voters to select either “For” or “Against” this proposition.

The city of Lometa is seeking to fill three at-large positions on the Lometa City Council. Voters may select up to three names among those on the ballot: Jaelyn Downey, Lawrence “Larry” Koch, Alex Witherspoon and Luella “Ronnie” Cartwright.

Registered voters who live within the boundaries of the Lometa Independent School District may cast a ballot for up to two school board trustees. Those candidates include incumbents Courtney Duncan and Mario Maldonado, plus challenger Carlos Garcia.

Also on the Lometa ISD ballot is a bond election notice that reads: “The issuance of $1,750,000 school building bonds for the construction, acquisition, rehabilitation, renovation, expansion and equipment of school buildings in the district (including but not limited to, career technical education and vocational facilities), and levying and imposition of taxes sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on the bonds and the costs of any credit agreements. This is a property tax increase.”

Voters may select “For” or “Against” Proposition A in the Lometa ISD bond election.

Voting hours Saturday are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all polling sites.

Lampasas and Kempner voters may use either the Elections Office, 407 S. Pecan St. Suite 102 in Lampasas, or the Kempner Fire Department Training Center, 315 S. Pecan St. in Kempner, for balloting.

Voting for Lometa municipal and school district balloting will be held at Lometa City Hall, 100 San Saba St. in Lometa.
