The Lampasas City Council voted unanimously Feb. 18 during a special session to appoint Chuck Williamso to fill the Place 3 position on the council.

Gordon Nelson resigned from the position earlier this month. He and his wife have endured bouts of COVID-19 since he was elected to Place 3 in November.

Mayor Misti Talbert sai she hopes Nelson and his wife will be well.

“We want to wish him and his wife good health and best wishes,” she said

Williamson, a retiree, and Jacquelyn Boden, who is self-employed, submitted letters of interest to be considered to serve the remainder of Nelson’s term.

City Secretary Becky Sims said Boden was not eligible for consideration, however, because she does not live within city limits.

Williamson served in the Place 3 position for sixand-a-half years. Nelson defeated Williamson in last year’s November election.

Talbert praised Williamson for his service to Lampasas.

“I think we all know of Chuck’s dedication to the community, to the city, and how long he’s served on probably more boards and committees than he can remember,” she said.

Williamson said he is grateful to accept the appointment.

“I appreciate the opportunity to be able to serve the citizens of Lampasas again,” he said.

Williamson will serve in the Place 3 position through May of 2022, when the seat will be up for election.
