Commemorative tribute to country’s past

Veterans of Foreign Wars has placed flags around the courthouse this month to honor the Feb. 12 birthday of Abraham Lincoln, the Feb. 22 birthday of George Washington, as well as the Feb. 28, 1991 liberation of Kuwait as part of Desert Storm, and the 1898 sinking of the USS Maine. Spokesman Roger DeWeese said the VFW plans a monthly tribute recognizing important dates in America’s history.
