The Don’t mess with Texas Scholarship Contest is now accepting applications for the 2023 school year. Any Texas high school senior attending public, private or home school who plans to attend an accredited Texas college or university in the fall 2023 semester is eligible to apply.

With temperatures dipping lower at night and more winter weather expected this month, efforts to keep pets warm require a few extra steps and precautions. One means is to bring pets inside, said Rachel White, shelter staff and animal control officer at the Lampasas Animal Shelter.

Forsythe serves as mentor for new ag instructors

Former longtime Lampasas High School agriculture science instructor/FFA adviser Steve “Doc” Forsythe keeps busy in “retirement” with mentoring activities to support others in the field. Forsythe said he is working with future teachers through the 12-week “practice block” required for traditional ag education students to become certified, and with first-year teachers to provide support for them as they begin their careers in area classrooms.
