Interlochen Arts AcademyBryan Christian, a 1985 Lampasas High School graduate, recently was granted a six-week appointment as conductor of the Interlochen Arts Academy Wind Symphony.Christian is the son of Lampasas residents Jerry and Sheila Christian.

This September, Storm’s Drive-In marks a remarkable milestone: 75 years of serving up classic American fare and Texas hospitality. What began as a humble soft-serve ice cream stand in Lampasas in 1950 has grown into a beloved institution with locations in Lampasas, Burnet and Hamilton.

Key Avenue of yesteryear, and the joy of getting nowhere

I’m not sure if there’s a sign-up sheet for folks moving into Lampasas. If there is, I missed it. But that’s not tragic, because I’ve lived here before. My parents and grandparents are from this area, and we lived here during my eighth- and ninth-grade years (’64-’65).I really liked it.

The Lampasas High School Badger Band will bring the spy tales of Agent 007 to life for this year’s marching season.

SCV camps participate in DeLeon festival parade

The Sons of Confederate Veterans’ entry placed third in the DeLeon Peach and Melon Festival & Parade on Aug. 9. Three SCV camps participated together in the event: the Capt. Walter T. Saxon Camp #1982 of Hico, 2nd Texas Frontier No. 1904 of DeLeon and the Saltworks Camp No. 2353 of Lampasas.

National court reporters associationCindy Isaacsen, a 1985 Lampasas High School graduate, was installed as president of the National Court Reporters Association last week at an annual conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She will serve in the position for one year.

Lampasas civic groups continue local flood recovery efforts

Amonth after the July 5 flood, local volunteers are still needed to help families with flood damages.Salvation Army volunteer Dorothy Person said she witnessed the effort of local civic organizations and neighbors who came together to lend a hand.“Mostly people are helping each other,” she said.
