According to old minutes at City Hall, agenda items included taxes, water works, flooding, curbing, etc. Sound familiar?

Lometa ISD is making its Fall Festival a tradition, as it will open Thursday for the second year with hopes to impress the community on an even larger scale than last year’s event. “Last year was the first year Lometa has done an event like this,” Lometa Principal Amanda Morris said.

The annual Christmas Tour of Homes will offer five stops this year. One stop will be at the Craftsman-style bungalow that is the home of Terri Cox. The tour will take place Dec. 3 as part of the annual Carol of Lights festivities in Lampasas. Tickets are available at the Lampasas County Museum.

A team from Saratoga Lodge #546 and Mt. Horeb Lodge #137 visited the elementary schools in the Lampasas ISD and Lometa ISD last month. The group delivered more than 300 dental kits to area first-graders as part of the Masonic Charities Program named “Fantastic Teeth.”

“We’re a loose collective,” Daniel Hodges said with a grin, as he talked about his fellow Lampasas County birders. The group, LTX Birders, started gathering about three or four years ago and has no formal meetings, set-in-stone dates they meet, or hard and fast rules. It is a relaxed group of individuals who are quite knowledgeable and enjoy both the pursuit of birds and camaraderie with one another.

The Snow Queen Pageant is set for Dec. 2, and applications are being accepted for this year’s contest.
