Monica Garza of Kempner recently was awarded a $30,000 scholarship by The Sumners Foundation of Irving, Texas. Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, civic engagement and a capacity for leadership.
Garza is a junior at Howard Payne University, where she is majoring in elementary education. She is one of 34 students nationally to receive a Sumners scholarship in 2021.
