Several basketball players receive all-district honors

Now that the Lampasas boys’ and girls’ basketball seasons have come to a close, the all-district honors have been announced. Numerous Badgers and Lady Badgers earned recognition. LADY BADGER HONOREES First Team All-District designation went to Addison Borchardt and Morgan Lovejoy.

Lady Badgers finish 5-2 in Killeen tournament

The Lady Badgers kicked off their first regularseason softball action over the weekend during a tournament played in Harker Heights. The girls finished 5-2 overall with wins over Ellison (10-2 final), Florence (7-1 final), Round Rock McNeil (10-0 shutout), Gateway (7-6) and Bastrop (11-5 score).

Both powerlifting teams win San Saba meet

The Lampasas powerlifting teams traveled to San Saba last Thursday, and both teams finished the meet in first place. The Badgers scored 57 points, and AJ Luna broke the school record for squat in the 242-pound class. He lifted 575 pounds in his squat.

Lampasas wrestler places fifth at state competition

Just a year removed from former Lady Badger Briana Miller becoming the first female wrestler in Lampasas to win a match at the state competition, another Lady Badger has accomplished that feat and more. Sophomore Charlie Freese placed fifth at state last Friday in Houston.

Badgers win thriller in triple overtime

What should have been the final buzzer went off four different times Tuesday night during the Badgers’ 76-67 win over Burnet. At the end of regulation, the Bulldogs missed a threepoint shot as the buzzer sounded to send the game to the first overtime with the score tied 49-49.

Lady Badgers’ season comes to end after playoff loss to Salado

The Lady Badgers traveled to Belton on Monday night for their bi-district matchup with Salado. The game did not go Lampasas’ way, and the team lost 69-41. A slow start put the Lady Badgers behind, and they never fully recovered.

Badgers sending three wrestlers to state competition today

The Badger wrestling teams traveled to Anna last week for the regional competition. The girls’ team finished 10th overall out of 39 schools. Three wrestlers advance to state: Charlie Freese and Derrick Winfree, plus Joey Roberts as an alternate. She will wrestle in the event a teammate cannot.

Girls’ soccer picks up first district win in dominant fashion

The Lady Badger soccer team was in top form Tuesday night when Lampasas picked up a 6-1 win over Academy at home. Bella Lindsey finished the game with four goals, and Liliana Miller scored the other two.
