Varsity boys hold Cougars scoreless in nine-minute stretch

The Lampasas varsity boys improved every quarter in a series of scrimmages on Saturday at home.

With a 20-minute running clock in each scrimmage, Lampasas fell 26-14 to Salado before beating Milano 28-16, topping China Spring by a 27-20 score and winning an eight-minute quarter against Milano 23-17.

No individual stats were available.

“Shots did not fall versus Salado, and they pulled away the last two minutes,” LHS head coach Aaron Nuckles said.

Lampasas held China Spring scoreless in the last nine minutes, “which is huge,” Nuckles said. “We were very solid on defense. Offensively, when we played through each other and ran through the system, we looked good. Particularly the last three matchups, scoring 28, 27, 23.”

The Badgers host several more scrimmages on Nov. 10, with Wimberley, Lake Belton and Austin Language Arts and Science Academy. The varsity takes the court at 6 p.m.

The first regular-season game is Nov. 14 against Lago Vista.
