Mr. Bessent

Rex Alden Bessent was born on May 7, 1945, in Brownwood, to Melvin Newton Bessent and Ione Stanley Bessent. He grew up on the family farm near the Duren Community in Mills County. He thoroughly enjoyed his time growing up in that area with his brothers Stanley Bessent and Lanny Bessent.

Mrs. Moore

A celebration of the life of Patsy Morene Ballow Moore will be held March 29, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Evant. Zach Huckabee will officiate.Lunch will be served after the service.Patsy died Feb. 18, 2025 at the age of 91.She spent most of her life in Lampasas County on the J.E.

Ms. Waters

Shirley Ann Waters, 95, of Lampasas, died on March 21, 2025.Memorial services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on March 30 at 2 p.m.Shirley was born on June 8, 1929, in Silt, Colorado, to Ben and Eslie (Combs) Boyd.

Mrs. Juby

Mary E. Juby, also known as “Nana Juby,” died March 12, 2025, in Lampasas.She was born on Nov. 1, 1927, in Georgetown into a large family of 10 siblings.Her father, Jesse James Chambers, and wife, Annie Lee Teague Chambers, moved to Briggs to find work as a sharecropper.

Mrs. Norris

Marsha Kay Norris, 71, died in her sleep on March 11, 2025.Memorial services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on March 21 at 2 p.m.

Mr. Copeland

Marcus Coley Copeland, 77, of Crockett died on the morning of March 8, 2025, at Central Texas Veterans Hospital in Temple.Born on March 29, 1947 in Big Spring, Marcus was the son of the late Monroe W. Copeland and Rosezena Smart, a proud member of the Comanche Nation.

Mrs. Hultz

Kathy I. Hultz, age 71, of Copperas Cove, died on March 4, 2025.She was born on June 28, 1953 in Brady, Texas to Raymond R Cambron and Jesse (Stone) Cambron.Kathy married Mike Hultz on Oct. 15, 1977 in Copperas Cove City Park.

Mr. Garner

Billy Jack Garner died on March 6, 2025 at the age of 97.He was born on the family ranch in Lampasas to Milton Edward and Dicie Beatrice Garner. Jack and his twin brother Mack joined three older brothers in the family.While in Lampasas schools, he met the love of his life, Jo Ann Witcher.

Mr. Cox

Franklin David Cox of Lampasas died, surrounded by family, on Oct. 31, 2023.David was born in Lake Victor, Burnet County, to Elmer and Lola Cox.The large family moved to Lampasas, where David graduated from high school.David enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas during the Korean War.

Mrs. Cox

Linda Kay (Malcik) Cox of Lampasas died on Feb. 18, 2025.Kay was born on Dec. 5, 1948 in Temple, Texas to Wilson Malcik and Lillye Mae (Kneblik) Malcik.She graduated from Temple High School in 1966.
