Mrs. Florio

Vera Brita Florio died quietly at her home on Sept. 25, 2026. She was 84.

Born on Aug. 14, 1942, in East Prussia, Vera was a woman of warmth, strength and unmistakable flair.

She graduated from high school in Bamberg, Germany, and carried throughout life a loving spirit and a distinctly German sense of style that those around her cherished.

In her early years, Vera loved to travel, embracing new places and experiences. She was also deeply creative and found joy in many forms of artistic expression. She loved artwork, painting, ceramics, stained glass work, sewing and photography. These interests reflected both her imagination and the care she brought to the world around her.

After her husband Paul retired from the Army, Vera and Paul devoted 30 years to training and breeding racehorses. This chapter of her life spoke to her dedication, hard work and love for the life she and Paul built together.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Paul Florio, and by her son, Michael Florio.

She is survived by her son Christopher Florio and wife, Traci, of Copperas Cove; her granddaughter Taylor Mooney and husband, Dustin, of Copperas Cove; and her sistersin- law Susan Bragg and Fria Raney, both of Arizona.

She will be remembered by her family and all who knew her as a caring, creative and spirited woman.
