Pete Bailey Dennis of Adamsville died on Sept. 1, 2022.
Pete was born in 1936 in Peacock, Texas, to Burris and Virgie Vencil Dennis. He was raised in a ranching family, but by age 5 he had his eyes on the sky. He said that came about while he and his best buddy spent time sitting on two stumps out front of the one-room schoolhouse, contemplating the errors of their ways.
Pete served in the military and began to earn flight time. He launched and retired from a successful airline career. After retiring from the airline, he taught flight training at Central Texas College.
Pete earned his MBA and began his second career in finance. He always said he had to hold down a goodpaying job to be able to afford ranching.
In 1976, he married Sandra Nance Lambert. They raised two sons.
Pete was an accomplished guitar player and country musician. He was a regular performer on the “Country Opery” circuit in Texas.
Pete is survived by his wife, Sandra; their children and their families Wade, Steve, Bret and Alynn; two granddaughters, Kristalyn and Ashlyn; two sisters, Rose Buck, and Jean Campbell and husband Jim; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service and interment will be held at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home of Lampasas has charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Foundation, or the charity of one’s choice.
