Lometa L-M Garden and Civic Club met Nov. 16 at the club building for a short business meeting. About eight members were present.
Hostesses Patricia Dorsey, Tico Hicks and Lewvon Hicks provided light refreshments of frito pie, cookies baked in cupcake wrapping, and water and iced tea. Tables were arranged in a U-shaped pattern and decorated with a colorful garland of leaves with tiny votive candles and ceramic pumpkins.
Chairs were spaced apart to provide social distancing, and members wore facial masks.
The business meeting was called to order by President Faye Asbury. Secretary Val Cash read the minutes of the October meeting. Treasurer’s repor was given by Lewvon Hicks.
The horticulture tip was to bring potted plants inside when colder nights are forecast.
Members discussed their Valentine’s Day fundraiser. The number of flower stems to be ordered will be decided at a later date. The garden club members may use the bank parking lot to sell flowers.
The club’s annual Christmas party also was discussed. The party will be at the club building on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. Members are asked to bring a favorite finger-food item and a $15-$20 wrapped gift for an exchange.
Hostesses for the December meeting will decorate the club building and the serving table.
A suggestion was made to send out group text messages to members about meetings, since some are having issues receiving emails.
The next meeting will be the Christmas gathering.
