Lampasas led McGregor by just three points at the start of the fourth quarter but beat the visiting Lady Bulldogs 54-43.
The strong finish gives the Lady Badgers a 2-0 start to the season.
Sophomore Payton Tatum was one steal away from a double-double. She had nine takeaways and 17 points to lead the Lady Badgers’ scoring for a second straight game.
McGregor scored first, and it was a low-scoring first quarter. Morgan Lovejoy put the Lady Badgers ahead 8-7 early in the second with a close-range basket. McGregor went back in the lead with a three-pointer, but a fast-break basket by Cobie Chandler tied things up at 10-10.
The second quarter stayed close. Taylor Allen knocked down a three-pointer to break a 14-14 tie, but the Lady Bulldogs tied it again at 17-17. Lampasas took the last four points of the half to hold a close lead at the break.
McGregor outscored the Lady Badgers 13-12 in the third quarter, but the Lady Badgers outscored the ’Dogs 21-13 in the last period.
Next, Lampasas is scheduled to host Little River-Academy (0-1) at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday.
