HONORING VETERANS
The public is invited to join Scouts and veterans at Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday at 8 a.m. to place American flags on the graves of military veterans. Participants will be in small groups to comply with COVID-19 precautions.
In addition, a Veterans Day ceremony is planned Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the county courthouse. The guest speaker will be Col. John “Mike” Wallace, deputy commander of the 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National Guard.
Wallace, a veteran of more than 26 years, has commanded American forces during the Global War on Terrorism in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. As deputy commander of the 36th, he has participated in domestic operations including Hurricane Laura, civil disturbance and COVID-19 operations.
REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION
The Hill Country Area Crime Stoppers, Lampasas County Sheriff’s Offce, Burnet Police Department and Burnet County Sheriff’s Offce are seeking details on numerous cases of arson involving homes, vehicles, churches and businesses that occurred from May 5 to Oct. 22.
