LCRA offers grants for community projects

The Lower Colorado River Authority is offering grants of up to $50,000 for community projects throughout LCRA’s wholesale power, water and transmission service territory. Applications for the next round of Community Development Partnership Program grants must be submitted by midnight on Jan. 31.

Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Crystal Lee Hightower of Lampasas was sentenced to five years’ deferred probation on a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram in a drugfree zone.

Council discusses wastewater plant, police communications

Lampasas City Council members on Monday received the results of a study on the city’s wastewater treatment plant and the pretreatment facilities at Ajinomoto Foods. Council members Catherine Kuehne, Randy Clark and Gordon Nelson were absent from the meeting.
