Fire chief updates City Council about COVID-19

During the Lampasas City Council workshop session Monday, Lampasas Fire Chief Jeff Smith reported fewer than five active cases of the coronavirus. Smith also serves as the city’s emergency management coordinator. In Lampasas County, there was one active case as of Wednesday.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened on Monday with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Dennis Auln Bunao Narag of Sylmar, California entered a plea of guilty and was found guilty of engaging in organized criminal activity.

ARRESTS

The following arrests were reported to the Lampasas Dispatch Record by area law enforcement officials. The Dispatch Record prints the name and charge(s) of people arrested on at least one Class B misdemeanor – or more serious – charge.

CATTLE AUCTION

The May 26 Lampasas Cattle Auction report follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 480, compared to 109 last sale and 332 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $5-$7 higher. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were $3-$5 higher.

SHEEP, GOAT AUCTION

The May 20 market report from Mills County Commission Co. follows. Total receipts: 2,217. Previous week: 2,692. Trends: Light kids $10 lower. Slaughter kids $5-$10 lower; slaughter nannies $5 lower; replacement nannies $5-$10 lower.

New mayor, councilmen sworn into office

The Lampasas City Council swore in new Mayor TJ Monroe and council members Zac Morris and Herb Pearce, along with returning Councilman Randy Clark, during a special session Monday night. Place 3 Councilman Chuck Williamson was appointed mayor pro tem.
