City of Kempner to hold school supply drive Saturday

On Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Kempner City Hall, staff will be distributing over $2,000 in donated school supplies and toiletries to anyone who needs. City Manager David Williams said through a news release, the city is not requiring any income or address verification.

18-year-old dies in San Saba County crash

An 18-year-old Kerrville woman died after colliding with a SUV in San Saba County. On July 25, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a report of a major two-vehicle crash on State Highway 16. A 2017 Ford Fusion sedan, driven by 18-yearold Kenli Parish Riney, was traveling south.

COVID-19 cases surge statewide and locally

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Lampasas has increased in the past week. For the entire state, 2,049 new cases have been confirmed since Friday, and hospitalizations are rising.

An 18-wheeler veered off the road and onto the train tracks on FM 2313, just north of U.S. Highway 190, in Kempner early Friday morning. Police said the 18-wheeler driver sustained minor injuries, and diesel spilled on the tracks.

Klose family to celebrate its 100th reunion

The Klose family will hold its reunion Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Street Church of Christ fellowship hall, 201 W. First St. in Lampasas. They will be celebrating the 100 th year of the reunion, which has been held annually in Lampasas County, according to a spokesman.
