On Wednesday, the following new laws will take effect in the state. BEER AND WINE SALES ON SUNDAYS House Bill 1518 came just in time for football season, as the law expands hours for the sale of beer and wine from 10 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.

Lampasas has ‘best seat’ to see 2024 solar eclipse

Although April 8, 2024, seems far away to most, for eclipse chasers — or umbraphiles — it will be here quicker than the speed of light. The date is the expected occasion of the 2024 Great North American Eclipse, and scientists are pointing to Texas as the premier place to view it.

COVID-19 VACCINE CLINIC The Lampasas fire station, located at 1107 E. Fourth St., will host a mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free clinic is open to the public. No appointment is needed.

Indian Artifact Show to feature 50 vendors

The Indian Artifact, Gem and Mineral Show is planned for Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lampasas County Livestock Barn, 283 North U.S. Highway 183 in Lampasas. Fifty vendors are expected to display their artifacts and gems/minerals.

Community Church selects interim pastor to lead congregation

Community Church has named Wayne Weissmann its interim pastor. He and his wife, Pattie, reside in Kimball, Nebraska. Weissmann will begin his duties on Sept. 5. “Our plan is to come down every other weekend,” Weissmann said in a recent announcement about his acceptance of the position.

The Lampasas County Livestock Association will hold its annual Reverse Raffle Oct. 23 at the Lampasas County Show Barn, 283 North U.S. Highway 183 in Lampasas. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the ribeye steak meal to be served at 5:30.
