Club offers free demonstration on bonsai stylizing

The Highland Lakes Garden Club invites the public to a demonstration by Brandon Baldauf from Hawk Eye Bonsai in Austin. The program will be held Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Marble Falls Library Community Room, 101 Main St.

Funding awarded for rural home repairs

The United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development has funding available for rural low-income families throughout the nation in need of home repairs. Locally, USDA awarded more than $300,000, which will be distributed by the Fort Hood Habitat for Humanity.

City intends to adopt updated building codes

Lampasas officials have proposed updating the city’s building codes in early 2022. The purpose of building codes, according to the Environmental and Energy Study Institute, is to protect buildings and the people and property inside them from fire, earthquakes, windstorms and other extreme events.

Lampasas FFA to meet Sept. 21

The Lampasas FFA will meet today at 6 p.m. for its first meeting of the school year. Parents will gather in the Lampasas High School lecture hall, and FFA members will meet in the cafe. The meeting will include FFA activities, games and a special treat.

4-H year begins

Enrollment in 4H is open. Those in grades K-2 (Clover Kids) can sign up free. For students in grades 3-12, the cost is $25 until Oct. 31, then it is $30 for the year. The enrollment site is https://texas.rhonline.com. The Lampasas Sulphur Creek 4-H Club will meet Sept. 21 at 6 p.m.
