The report from the Feb. 9 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 468, compared to 285 last sale and 544 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $7-$10 higher. Slaughter cows were $5-$7 higher, and slaughter bulls were $2-$4 higher.

The Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday. Investigator David Thorp of the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office offered information that resulted in the indictment of Brandon Lee Young on a charge of assault of a family member with a previous conviction on Aug. 8, 2021.

City officials talk project status, business park

In a three-hour roundtable discussion Monday, Lampasas City Council and municipal staff learned the status of 39 capital projects and agreed to move forward with developing a business park. City Manager Finley deGraffenried led the talks on projects and funding.

A Kempner teenager was killed in a vehicle crash involving a cement truck Tuesday afternoon. Multiple agencies responded around 12:45 p.m. to the area of East U.S. Highway 190 and FM 1715 for the twovehicle collision.

County officials have confirmed that the old jail building will disappear by way of demolition in about two weeks. But first, the former Lampasas County Jail on East Fourth Street must have asbestos abatement performed.

While the Natural Resources Conservation Service accepts applications for enrollment into the Conservation Stewardship Program throughout the year, interested applicants must submit paperwork to the local NRCS field office by Feb. 28 for the 2022-1 CSP Classic sign-up.
