CTC to open College for Kids classes in Lampasas

Central Texas College (CTC) will host a series of classes aimed at youngsters age five and older through its College for Kids program. CTC has expanded its course schedule from last summer and has also teamed with the Lampasas County Higher Education Center (LCHEC) to offer more classes.

The Lampasas American Legion Auxiliary Unit 277 will distribute poppies, for a donation, today at 415 E. Third St. from 9 a.m. to noon. Poppies traditionally are worn during the Memorial Day weekend to honor the nation’s fallen service members and to show support of U.S.

Lampasas ISD names Teachers of the Year

The Lampasas Independent School District has named its teachers of the year for 2022. The district Elementary Teacher of the Year is Chelsea Posey, and Secondary Teacher of the Year is Marie McGuire.

New mental health program offered to sheriff’s staff

The Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office is taking measures to address mental health and wellness for its staff. The department offers training through the Texas Law Enforcement Peer Network, designed to help officers statewide have an avenue to access help related to on-the-job struggles.

Bend church plans annual camp meeting for June 2-5

The 164th Methodist Camp meeting, hosted annually by members of the Bend United Methodist Church, is set for June 2-5. Services will be held at the historic Methodist Campground, located near Chappel Community at 1082 County Road 432 in San Saba County.
