Community Bridge welcomed six tables of players recently in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church. Cash prizes were awarded to Linda Williams, first; Nell Lane, second; and Jim Hutchinson, third. Tim Cockburn and Linda Williams won the slam prize. The next play date is Dec. 12 at 1 p.

Two families seek help after Sunday fire

Two Lampasas families are seeking help after a fire Sunday morning claimed a home on West First Street. Kimberly Smith and Betty Chaudoin are accepting donations after a fire completely consumed the house and adjacent apartment where they each were living with their children.

Lometa ISD updates District of Innovation plan

Lometa Independent School District approved the District of Innovation plan at last week’s meeting, a plan that will extend through 2027. The plan is focused on ways the district can increase innovation as well as student learning, school officials said.

Graveside service set Saturday for longtime Lampasas doctor

Dr. Alton Arnold Bishop, 95, of Lampasas died on Nov. 21, 2022, at his home. Graveside services will be held Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. at Burnet City Cemetery. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements. Bishop was born on March 19, 1927, in Paint Rock to Jack and Nola Bishop.
