Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant David Vance Clifton of Abilene had a revocation hearing and was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

Grass fire on U.S. 281 blamed on hay baler malfunction, marshal says

A grass fire at 9405 North U.S. Highway 281 came within 60 yards of a residence on Tuesday afternoon. According to Lampasas Fire Marshal J.P. Harris, the cause of the blaze is believed to be a hay baler that caught on fire.

Coryell County prosecutor to handle Lampasas child rape case

A pretrial hearing will be held today for a Lampasas man accused of multiple counts of child rape, and a Coryell County prosecutor will handle the case.

Open house set for U.S. 281 expansion

The Texas Department of Transportation will host an open house Tuesday evening at New Covenant Church regarding the U.S. Highway 281 expansion project that will extend from Lampasas to Evant. TxDOT officials said the purpose of the 28-mile project is to improve mobility and increase safety along U.

ADAMSVILLE VFD EVENT The Adamsville Volunteer Fire Department will show off its new trucks Saturday from 6-9 p.m. Volunteers will serve barbecue brisket sandwiches and hot dogs.

Property tax relief ahead

Last week, the Texas House and Texas Senate agreed to a $18 billion tax cut for property owners. The tax relief package was enabled by a $32.7 billion budget surplus that has accumulated this year. Gov. Greg Abbott is expected to give the legislation his signature in the coming days.

Lometa water customers left with bad taste

As high temperatures continue to rage across Texas, the priority for clean, safe drinking water is at a premium. Residents in and around Lometa, however, believe their water is not up to the standards of high quality.
