Freshman, JV football teams pick up wins over Georgetown East View

The Lampasas freshmen came out on top 14-6 over Georgetown East View in a tough, defensive football battle. The team picked up win number two on the season. Offensively for the Badgers, Tripp Stinnett connected on touchdown passes of five yards and 40 yards with receiver Cayhil Isom.

‘Big John’ grass fire fully contained after it burned over four days

A grass fire that developed on County Road 3831 north of Adamsville consumed approximately 125 acres, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. The fire started at 4:15 p.m. Sept. 7 and was not fully contained until early morning on Sept. 11.

Lampasas woman injured in Key Avenue collision

A two-vehicle accident on Monday sent a Lampasas woman to the hospital with minor injuries. Lampasas Police Patrol Lt. Chuck Montgomery said a collision was reported at 7:34 p.m. near the 7-Eleven convenience store just south of the FM 580 East intersection.

GRAND JURY

Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday to continue the July term. Lampasas County Sheriff Department Investigators Wayne Hilgenberg, Matt Barnes and Nick Roberts brought information that resulted in the following indictments.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the Sept. 13 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 382, compared to 416 last sale and 379 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $5 higher.

ARRESTS

The following arrests were reported to the Lampasas Dispatch Record by area law enforcement officials. The Dispatch Record prints the name and charge(s) of people arrested on at least one Class B misdemeanor – or more serious – charge.

Kempner City Council OK’s increased tax rate, appoints interim city manager

The Kempner City Council adopted its new 2023-2024 fiscal-year tax rate and approved Rebecca Ramos as the new interim city manager during Tuesday evening’s regular meeting. Councilman Dan Long and Chief of Police Heriberto Rodriguez were absent from the meeting.

Community Gardens hosting fall festival event

Lampasas Community Gardens will host a 2023 “Fall Y’all Festival” fundraiser later this month. The event will be held Sept. 30 from 4-7 p.m. at the Community Gardens. There will be family fun, line dancing, a silent auction, food and more activities planned for the event.
