Lampasas ISD to offer summer meals at two campuses

Lampasas ISD Nutrition Services will offer healthy, no-cost summer meals to children ages 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old.The summer meal program kicks off at Hanna Springs Elementary School on May 21, with breakfast served from 7:30-9:30 a.m.

Lampasas County grand jury convened last week to continue its January term.Investigator Tony Auch of the state fire marshal’s office presented information that resulted in the indictment of Johnny Morales on a charge of arson on Feb. 4.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings.Defendant Gilbert Elias Ayala of Lometa entered a guilty plea to a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram in a drugfree zone.

Kempner to consider making police chief a full-time position

The Kempner City Council spent the majority of Tuesday’s meeting brainstorming for the upcoming 2024-25 fiscal year budget. One topic of discussion was the chief of police position.Mayor Pro Tem Rob Green and Councilwoman Debbie Hernandez were absent from the proceedings.

Woman pulled to safety from Lampasas River

A 45-year-old woman holding onto a tree limb in the Lampasas River was rescued last week by a Lampasas County sheriff’s deputy and a Kempner police officer.LCSO Chief Deputy Kodie Greenburg said medical evaluation by Hamilton EMS showed the woman sustained no injuries.
