Bridge work continues

The Texas Department of Transportation work to replace the East Third Street Bridge at Burleson Creek continues. Work began mid-January, and the project is expected to last for six months.

LCAD board says yes to 78% budget increase for 2026

The Lampasas Central Appraisal District Board of Directors approved Chief Appraiser Juan Saucedo’s proposed $1.589 million budget for 2026 with minimal pushback, greenlighting a $600,000 increase from this year’s budget.Action came during Thursday’s regular LCAD board meeting.

Railroad Crossing Closed

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway will close the railroad crossing at FM 2313 in Kempner on Wednesday for repairs. Work will begin at 7 a.m., and the crossing will reopen at approximately 5 p.m. that day after work is completed.

Benny Raymond “Skipper” Wallace of Lampasas – longtime Lampasas County Republican Party chairman and former city manager -- died May 31, 2025 at the age of 80.Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on June 5 from 6-8 p.m.

Pavilion dedicated at Lometa City Cemetery

American Legion Post 116 held a dedication ceremony recently for the pavilion it has added at the Lometa City Cemetery for the benefit of the community. After the ceremony, a reception followed at Good Shepherd Catholic Church’s Family Life Center on Main Street.
