The Lampasas County Commissioners Court on Monday approved a 3.5% increase in general fund expenditures for the 2025-26 fiscal year and a one-cent decrease in the county’s tax rate.

Debris remains along Sulphur Creek

Brush debris from heavy July flooding remains on the side of Sulphur Creek near the Fourth Street bridge. Clean-up efforts from Forward Lampasas, a local non-profit, took place earlier this year with plans to create a walking trail along the creek.

More than 400 Kempner Water Supply Corp. members have signed an online petition at Change.org demanding more transparency on the water supplier’s decision Wednesday to hike water rates. That action came in last week’s Board of Directors meeting.

Storm’s Drive-in is set to celebrate 75 years of making freshly cut french fries and inhouse ground burgers when Sept. 13 rolls around.The fast-food restaurant opened in 1950 by the Storm family as a soft-serve ice cream stand has arguably become Lampasas’ most iconic food establishment.

Courthouse renovations nearing their end
