District clerk indicted over financial matters

Two indictments for misapplication of fiduciary property -- third-degree felonies -- were served Friday afternoon on Lampasas County District Clerk Edith Harrison, local law enforcement officials said.

County commissioners highlight paving projects in their precincts

All four Lampasas County commissioners precincts are working to complete road improvement projects before cooler weather arrives this fall.County commissioners battled heavy rainfall throughout the summer, which put many pavement plans on hold while flood damages were addressed.

In an effort to prevent the Oncor/ LCRA transmission line route G-5 from going through property near the Lampasas River, Save The Lampasas 25 will hold a meeting Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Northeast Burnet County ESD 8 Station 1 (Oakalla Fire Station) at FM 2657 and FM 930.

Kissing bug found in Lampasas County

More than half of all kissing bugs are infected with the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, which leads to cases of Chagas disease. The insect is confirmed to have a presence in Lampasas County.

Pedestrian fatality occurs Saturday evening in town

A 63-year-old Lampasas female was struck by a motor vehicle as she was attempting to cross the road in the 100 block of Central Texas Expressway Saturday evening.Lampasas Police Department Sgt. Investigator Garrett Bradley said the victim failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic.

LCSO utilizes SB 22 funding for equipment

The Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office is making the most of the $350,000 in funding it received from the Rural Law Enforcement Grant program.According to the Lampasas County Auditor’s Office, LCSO has committed $63,678 to jailer and deputy pay raises, plus $262,938 to new equipment in 2025.
