Jobless rate drops at year’s end

The most current data at press time showed the unemployment rate is lower in Lampasas and surrounding counties than it is statewide. TRISH GRIFFITH | DISPATCH RECORD

Texas’ December unemployment rate dropped to 7.1% (not seasonally adjusted), down from 8% in November 2020. Figures were released Jan. 22.

Lampasas County and statewide jobless figures have fluctuated since August. The national rate in December was 6.7% -- no change from November.
