KEMPNER CITY COUNCIL

The Kempner City Council will meet this Tuesday at 7 p.m. at City Hall, located at 12288 East U.S. Highway 190.

Action items listed on the agenda include possible approval of a plan for an Eagle Scout service project.

4-H PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

A 4-H Photography Workshop has been set for Thursday at 4 p.m. Youth can learn about camera settings and how to take good photos. Call the AgriLife Extension Office -- 512-556- 8271, ext. 140 -- to confirm the location.

FOOD PANTRY

St. Mary Catholic Church’s food pantry will hold one drive-through distribution in November – on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until noon.

Bags of non-perishable items plus bread, dairy, produce and meat are planned for distribution. All in need are welcome. Go to the church parking lot at 701 N. Key Ave.

BURN IN EFFECT

A county burn ban prohibits many types of outdoor fires -- including open campfires, plus brush fires that do not meet specific conditions. The ban applies outside incorporated city limits. A violation of the burn ban is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum fine of $500.
