This Halloween season, the Texas Department of Transportation and Drug Enforcement Agency are teaming up with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s “Watch UR BAC” program to spread awareness on the fentanyl epidemic in the state.

Enchilada dinner fundraiser planned

Keeping It Local and The Community Kitchen have teamed up to offer a fundraiser to benefit area children. These groups will hold an enchilada dinner Oct. 23 from 1-5 p.m. at the Lampasas Fire Station, 1107 E. Fourth St. Plates are $10 each. Dinein and to-go options are available.

Local author selected for Texas Word Wrangler event

Local author Vannetta Chapman has been selected as a featured author for the Nov. 18-19 Texas Word Wrangler Book Festival in Giddings. The annual festival, which attracts hundreds of attendees, is hosted by the Giddings Public Library.

Asmall act of kindness left a big impression in the Lampasas community recently. A post from Sept. 30 on a social media forum received notable attention and positive reactions, as people celebrated the quiet service of Lampasas High School student AJ Rosales.

The second annual Veterans Day 5K is returning stronger this year with more sponsors, an official race status and another great cause. The Veterans Day 5K is set for Nov. 5 at 8 a.m. It will begin with a Veteran Honorary Ceremony at 7:45 a.m. at the north side of the Lampasas County Courthouse.

Lampasas High School graduate, Class of 2020, Riley Paige Hamilton will graduate this fall at the age of 19 with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in human resource management from the University of Texas-San Antonio. Hamilton graduated from LHS at age 16.
