Putting a harness on hope

On a sunny morning in mid-October at a ranch in eastern Lampasas County, a single rider trots a gelding around a small arena.

L-M Garden Club celebrates Thanksgiving meal together

Lometa L-M Garden and Civic Club had its annual Thanksgiving meal with family and friends on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the club building. Hostesses for the meal were Tico Hicks substituting for Lewvon Hicks, Debbie Hicks, Tricia Dorsey and Diana Matthews.

Tree lighting set in Copperas Cove

A tree lighting celebration will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Copperas Cove City Park, 1206 West Avenue B. Mayor Dan Yancey will accompany Santa, who will be available for photos at the event. The tree lighting is sponsored by the Copperas Cove Chamber & Visitors Bureau.

Master Gardener certification course available in Burnet

Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association will offer a certification course at the Texas AgriLife Extension office in Burnet beginning Feb. 1, 2023, for 10 weeks. Class times are 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Class size will be limited, and the course is offered only once a year.
