Lometa Hometown Holidays set for Dec. 17

Santa is heading back to Lometa this holiday season, when the city of Lometa hosts its annual Hometown Holidays. This year’s event will take place Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Lometa’s fire station, located next to City Hall.

Couple wed in Oct. 1 afternoon ceremony

Lillian Coriane Porter of Fort Rucker, Alabama, and Lt. Kyle Alexander Wright of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, were married Oct. 1, 2022, at an afternoon ceremony at the All Faiths Chapel on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station. The Rev. Sam Griffin of Austin officiated at the ceremony.

First United Methodist Church will present its 74th annual Christmas Cantata Sunday at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. The church is located at 2 Alexander Dr. in Lampasas. This year’s cantata is “All on a Silent Night.” It chronicles the events of that first Christmas Eve in Bethlehem.

Historians say the Lampasas Fire Department began giving out Christmas gifts in 1891. The gift of an apple or an orange was a big deal then, and that is precisely what those firemen distributed.
