If the good guy next door were a mineral, his name would be Iodine.

Iodine is probably one of the least discussed but most necessary minerals for bodily function.

If you’re of a certain age or, like me, just happen to have baby boomers for parents, you’ve probably experienced the sting and stink of dark brown iodide solution, which in the past was commonly used as an effective wound disinfectant.
