Fire estimated at several hundred acres on Thursday

A grass fire that started Thursday on CR 2234 north of Lampasas burned an estimated 453 acres and was 90% contained by Friday afternoon, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. Paid and volunteer firefighters from Lampasas responded at around 12:40 p.m. Thursday, and were soon joined by Lometa, Adamsville and Kempner Volunteer Fire Departments.
