John “JD” Hatley, 18, of Lampasas, died on July 17, 2026.
JD was born on May 18, 2008 in Georgetown to Richard and Lori Hatley.
From a young age, he brought energy, sassy humor and kindness to everyone around him. He had a big heart and loved helping his grandmas and his friends, whether through small acts of service or just being there when they needed him.
He was passionate about many things including music, puppetry and his dream of owning his own limo/party bus chauffeur business. JD also had a deep love for Bush’s Chicken. His friends there always had his order ready to go by the time he made it to the counter.
JD was a martial artist. He earned his black belt in Taekwondo and trained and taught with discipline and focus. He was a strong athlete who competed in bowling, basketball and track, earning a challenge coin for his athleticism and achievements.
JD’s vibrant spirit, love of life and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Richard and Lori Hatley; his brother, Brandon Hatley; grandparents Peggy Hatley, Brenda Ingram, and Donny and Michi Ingram; and many relatives and others.
Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on July 23 from 6-8 p.m.
