Gary Raymond Fritz, 68, died on Jan. 13, 2026, at his home in Lampasas.
A memorial service will be held at Bertram First Baptist Church, 325 S. Gabriel St., on Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. Burial of Gary’s ashes will take place at Bear Creek Cemetery, 201 CR 270 in Bertram, following the service. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas has charge of arrangements.
Gary was born on Sept. 4, 1957, at the U.S. Army Hospital Neubrücke in Germany to Robert Allen Fritz and Gisela Dorothea Eichmann Fritz.
He grew up in the Lampasas area and went to Lampasas High School.
Gary started carpentry work and construction at the age of 15, and had a lifelong career in construction for over 50 years all over Texas. He was a construction superintendent for nearly 30 years, and was part of many projects including several schools in the Central Texas area and the memorial built at Texas A&M University. Gary received many accolades over the years from his companies due to his work ethic.
Gary married his wife, Dianne, on Aug. 19, 1977, in Kempner. They were married for over 48 years.
Gary enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed a good Western novel. He loved guns and days in the pasture at their ranch shooting targets. He loved spoiling his girls and dogs and spending time with his family.
Gary was a character. He was known for his quick wit, playfulness, mischievous ways and starting the shenanigans. Gary was also known for his kind heart. His personality could light up a room, and he never knew a stranger. Gary knew how to make people laugh, and it made him happy to make other people happy.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Thomas Allen Fritz.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Fritz; son Travis Fritz; daughter, Delana Leamons and son-in-law, Jason Leamons; grandchildren Eva and Brent Lira; and his brother, Roland Fritz.
