Former Lampasas graduate gives tennis scholarships

Phil King is a 1963 graduate of Lampasas High School, and he played tennis while he was in school. Although he lives in Georgetown, every year since 2014 King has awarded one boy and one girl LHS tennis player with a $500 scholarship. The recipients this year are Kailr Clements and Elias Arellano.

Badgers run-rule Brownwood to take season series

The Badgers beat the Brownwood Lions 10-0 on Friday night in run-rule, walkoff fashion after Rawlin Smith scored the 10 th run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Smith’s hit was his second triple of the game, and he scored on a throwing error by the Lions.

Hornets will send several track athletes to area

The Hornets and Lady Hornets competed in their district track meet last week, where numerous athletes qualified to advance to the area meet on April 22. Individual results follow for all those areaqualifiers.

Not enough timely hitting results in loss to Brownwood

After loading the bases in each of the last two innings, the Badgers were not able to push a run across and came up short in Tuesday’s baseball game. The Brownwood Lions won the contest 7-3. The Badgers jumped out to a 3-0 lead by scoring two runs in the second and one in the third.

Badgers will have new offensive, defensive coordinators next fall

The Badgers are experiencing some turnover in the offseason that will result in new coaching staff for the football season. Sam Waldrip, the Badgers’ defensive coordinator, and Heath Naragon, the offensive coordinator, both have turned in their letters of resignation.

Lady Badgers finish third, Badgers place fourth at Thrall Meet

The Lady Badgers came in third of the 10 teams last Thursday at the Thrall track meet. The girls accumulated a total of 120 points. The Badgers finished in fourth in the boys’ division with 72 points.

Junior varsity tennis claims district champions in singles

Madison Miles is the junior varsity district champion. She played three matches last Friday, with the semifinals being her toughest of the day, head coach Kenneth Peiser said. Miles went back and forth with her opponent but pulled out a 9-7 victory in the match.
