Lometa FFA rodeo raises chapter funds

The Lometa FFA Junior Rodeo took place Friday and Saturday night. Participants in the four age groups for those ages 19 and under were able to enter 12 events ranging from goat tying to barrel racing. With prize money and buckles awarded to the top contestants, the event had a good turnout.

Lometa to offer a brand-new volleyball program

Superintendent Rob Moore announced to the Lometa Independent School District Board of Trustees on July 19 that a girls’ volleyball team, a new sport for Lometa, had been accepted officially into UIL District 15-A for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Head golf coach and partner win annual Britches and Bows tournament

Justin Schulze has won yet another tournament at Hancock Park Golf Course. He and his golf partner Abbie Smith won last weekend’s Britches and Bows tournament by one shot over Clint and Kayla Frost. Schulze and Smith shot 61- 58-119 over the two days, and the Frosts shot 63-57-120 to finish second.

Second youth tennis camp of summer begins next week

The second tennis camp of the summer is set to get underway next week. Students all the way from first grade to ninth grade will be able to work and learn the game of tennis at the high school courts from July 25-28. For those going into first through third grades, the cost is $24.

The Badgers will host a football camp at Lampasas High School for seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders from Monday through Thursday. The camp will run from 8-10 a.m. each day. The cost per student is $40.

Washer pitching, cornhole events list top three finishers

The Spring Ho washer pitching and cornhole tournaments took place July 9. Event organizer Valeria Sanchez has provided the following results. WASHERS (30 TEAMS) 1. Juan Moran and Felix Camacho 2. Ernest Franco and Isaiah Franco 3.

Runners of all ages compete in Spring Ho 10K, 5K and 1-mile race

The annual Spring Ho Toughest 10K took place last Saturday, and approximately 400 runners registered for the event. The Hancock Park pavilion served as the starting point for the races. The top three finishers in the one-mile race were Madisyn Dishman from Lampasas with a time of 8:53.
