Badger football set to get underway with scrimmage in Salado today

The high school football season is finally back, as the first scrimmage is scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight in Salado. The Badgers are coming off a second-place finish in district and a loss in the bi-district round of the playoffs to Pleasanton.

Middle school girls, freshmen gather for summer volleyball camp

DISPATCH RECORD Approximately 50 middle school and high school volleyball players were in the Lampasas High School gym recently for volleyball camp. The girls worked a lot on passing. They also had drills on setting, serving and hitting.

Over 90 athletes participate in football camp

DISPATCH RECORD The Badger football staff hosted a football camp for middle schoolers and freshman in late July, and more than 90 young Badgers worked on all aspects of the game.

Lampasas kids learn tennis basics in second summer camp

Youth from first grade through ninth grace have worked on the basics of tennis during the second camp session of the summer. First-graders through the third-graders were on the courts from 8-9 a.m.

Lampasas 13-year-old competes at state swim meet

Sophia Storm, 13, competed July 21 in the TAAF State Swim Meet in Corpus Christi in all four of her events. She placed in the top three of her events at the regional meet in New Braunfels when she competed on July 9. Sophia placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.67 seconds.

Fall sports practice on the horizon

Lampasas fall sports are set to begin practices next week, as August is just around the corner. Starting Aug. 1, volleyball, cross country, football and fall tennis can begin practice. Their seasons are less than a month from starting.
