Winless Pflugerville Connally will head into Lampasas tonight for the Badgers’ first home game of the year. Lampasas, at 2-1, is coming off its most impressive win of the year against Georgetown East View.

Dove season has been underway for a little over half a month now, and hunters have not seen much success, following the trend of recent years. “We just don’t have the numbers like we’ve had in the past,” Lampasas County Game Warden Shaun Bayless said.

The yearly club championship between Hancock Park Golf Course members and San Saba River Golf Course members will tee off at 1 p.m. Saturday at the course in Lampasas. At this event, a team of members from Hancock Park competes with a team of members from San Saba River.

A big opponent in a hostile environment created an interesting test for the Badgers early in the non-district season, and Lampasas was able to answer the call Friday night. A very good first half and an elite fourth quarter carried the Badgers to a 4839 win over the East View Patriots.

Turnovers and a tumultuous second half led to Lometa’s second loss of the 2022 campaign, as the Hornets fell to the state-ranked Richland Springs Coyotes 68-22 on Friday. Lometa began the game well, forcing an early fumble and starting its first drive in excellent field position.

Both Lampasas cross country teams left the Liberty Hill meet last Saturday with secondplace finishes. Individually, the girls finished like this: Nyla Long in second place, Becca Nobles in fourth, Tate Brown in ninth, Hailey Palmer in 10th and Anna Burgess in 13th place.
