Lampasas volleyball falls to Temple

The Lady Badgers traveled to Temple on Tuesday for another non-district game against a tough 6A opponent. The match started out well, as the Lady Badgers jumped out to an early lead in the first set. They were able to hold that lead and take the first set 25-22.

Both subvarsity football teams sit at 2-0 prior to week three

The freshman and junior varsity Badger football teams have each won their first two games. They played Georgetown East View at home Thursday, but the scores were not available by press time. In week one competition with Elgin, the freshman team won 28-0, while the junior varsity group won 26-22.

Junior high cross country team finishes first meet

Lampasas Middle School cross country had its first meet of the season last week at Lago Vista. The seventh-grade girls were led by Merari Vergara, who placed 16th. Makenzie Shaughnessy followed right behind her at 17th. The eighth-grade girls ran exceptionally well and placed second as a team.

Lampasas tennis suffers loss to 6A Harker Heights

Last week, the Badger tennis team played 6A Harker Heights High School. Lampasas once again opened with a strong performance in doubles. Unfortunately, singles competition ended up being the downfall, as the Badgers ultimately lost the match 11-8. The boys’ team is now 12-3 in doubles on the year.

Badgers pick up first win in dominant fashion

The Badgers got back to their winning ways in a dominant fashion when they traveled to Austin to take on the Northeast Early College High School Raiders. The final score was 48-0, and most of the damage was done in the first half. The Badgers scored early and often.

Hornets win a shootout, move to 1-1 on the year

Lucas Smailus-Cruz was on a mission Friday night. He found the endzone for all six of Lometa’s touchdowns, as the Hornets beat the Blum Bobcats 44-38. Cruz, a sophomore, had four rushing touchdowns, two receiving touchdowns and 288 yards for the Hornets.
