Badgers dominate Burnet, start district 1-0

Fields of Faith set for next week

Students from Lampasas County FCA will join with thousands of other youths on athletic fields across the nation next Wednesday, as they share their Christian faith with fellow students during the 17th annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Fields of Faith event.

Lady Badgers win first district match

The Lampasas Lady Badger volleyball team did something on Tuesday night they hadn’t done since the 2019-2020 season. With the final score of 2518, 25-18, 22-25, 22-25, 15-11, the Lady Badgers beat the Jarrell Cougars for their first district win of the year.

Tennis team comes up short in district championship match

The tennis district championship was on the line Tuesday night, and it couldn’t have ended much closer. Of the 18 total matches, nine went to tiebreakers and in the end, the Gatesville Hornets beat the Badgers 10-9 to take the district title.

District play gets underway tonight in Burnet

The 3-2 Burnet Bulldogs will host the 3-2 Lampasas Badgers tonight to kick off district play for both teams. The Badgers are looking to get off on the right foot, and the coaches and players are excited to get going. “I think we’re ready,” Lampasas head coach Troy Rogers said.

Football district action starts this week at Burnet

The Badgers have been a perennial playoff team in recent years under head coach Troy Rogers, and now it’s time for them to chase the postseason once again. Five games against Burnet, Taylor, Davenport, Marble Falls and Canyon Lake are all that is still guaranteed in this football season.

Lometa Lions Club event raises money for scholarships and more

Lometa had a night to remember Saturday when the Harlem Legends came to town. The event served as a fundraiser for the Lometa Lions Club, which gives scholarships to students and does community service work.

Hornets bounce back with dominant win over Eden

After three straight losses, Lometa bounced back in a big way Friday night, defeating the Eden Bulldogs 64-21 on the strength of an improved run game. “I’m just happy for our kids, man,” Lometa head coach D.T. Torres said after the victory.

Cross country teams take first and third at home meet

Hosting a meet last week at the 580 Sports Complex, the Lampasas varsity took first place in the 1A-4A boys’ division out of five cross country teams, and the girls finished third behind Goldthwaite and Stephenville.
