Lampasas welcomes new head girls’ basketball coach

The Lampasas girls’ basketball team will have a new head coach on the bench next season. Chris Jost comes to Lampasas after two years at San Saba, where he took one of his teams to the state semifinals. He has been a head basketball coach for 25 years.

Baseball picks up important win over Jarrell

The Badgers hosted the Jarrell Cougars Tuesday night in the second meeting between the two baseball teams this season. Lampasas needed a win in the competition to help secure a playoff spot down the stretch.

Badgers compete in home meet, final competition before district

The Johnny Lam Jones Relays that were canceled in early March because of bad weather were held last Wednesday in Lampasas and served as the final meet before district competition. The district event will be hosted this week in Marble Falls.

Lady Badgers run-rule Marble Falls in three innings

The Lampasas Lady Badger softball team took care of business last Thursday with its second straight run-rule win over the Marble Falls Lady Mustangs. The 15-0 victory in three innings was dominant and puts Lampasas in position to fight for second place in district with three games left this season.

Big middle innings cost Badgers against Burnet

The fourth, fifth and sixth innings – when the Burnet Bulldogs scored two, four and three runs, respectively – made all the difference in last Thursday’s game between the Badgers and their rival.

Middle school tennis competes in first tournament this season

The Lampasas Middle School tennis team had its first tournament this week, and it was played at home. In seventh-grade girls’ doubles, Ellie Peiser/ Merari Vergara won consolation. In the seventh-grade boys’ doubles competition, Pablo Cortez/Monte Gauna finished in second place.

LMS track teams finish in top two at district meet

The Lampasas Middle School competed in the district track meet last week, and all four teams finished in the top two of the district. Starting with the Lady Badgers, the seventh-grade girls placed second overall with 102 points, while the eighth-grade team won the district title with 123.50 points.

Boys’ golf team named district champ for first time in over a decade

The Lampasas boys’ golf team accomplished something the Badgers hadn’t done in 11 years when they won a district championship at Kingsland this week. The team was led by Peyton Spore, who also earned the first individual district champion honor for the boys in 12 years.

Badgers lose close game to Burnet

The Badgers traveled to Burnet Tuesday night for a district baseball game, and this one was tightly contested from the beginning. Lampasas scored two runs on a couple of hits in the top of the second inning to take a lead.
